»» Touring Lake Como While Waiting Hollywood Celebs

The rumored wedding in Cernobbio, Northern Italy, between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, didn’t happen.
Local newspapers claimed that the couple had decided to get married on Saturday March 18, in the town of Cernobbio, on the shores of Lake Como, and staying at George Clooney’s house nearby.

Bellagio

Police in Cernobbio were put on alert and town’s mayor Simona Saladini was even told to be on standby for possible official functions over the weekend. But the couple stayed away; it appears celeb wedding was just rumour.

Lake Como, that has also become home for George Clooney – his villa is located in Laglio, a few km north of Cernobbio, has much more to offer than a simple wedding between Hollywood Celebs.
Driving along the coastal roads is the best way to appreciate the lake sightseeing.

Among the several possible driving tours the Lake offers, we suggest the following itinerary:
1- Lecco: drive along the SS 36 fro approx 40km
2-Varenna: take ferry for Cadenabbia, opposite shore of the lake
3- Cadenabbia (recommended visit to Villa Carlotta): take ferry for Bellagio)
4- Bellagio (recommended visit to Villa Serbelloni): drive along the SS 583 for 31km
5- Como: (recommended: Duomo, Basilica S.Abbondio, Lungolario, Panorama Brunate): drive along the SS 340 for 5km
6- Cernobbio

It is a big thing arranging your wedding in the scenery of Amalfi Coast or Sorrento.

Sorrento

However that can become a bit commercial, so do plan with care the event. You should choose a good agency which help you in finding the right restaurant, site etc..and what you need to successfully arrange such a special day.

You can have a wonderful time whether in Sorrento or in the Amalfi Coast, which offers Ravello, Positano, and many other lovely places suitable for the celebration of the biggest day of your life.

»» Lake Garda + Cinque Terre

Carolyn asked us advice about a holiday in Italy including seaside, lakes, and art cities:

“…My husband and I will be traveling to Italy in July to attend a wedding in Verona.
We are thinking of hiring a car and driving to the lake district.
We have 4 days and then take the car back to Verona and then take the train to Cinque Terre for a week. Travel from Cinque Terre to Rome by train with an overnight stop in Florence. Does this itineray sound ok?…”

4 days for the lakes is ok, if for “lake district” you mean Lake Garda and surroundings only. By hiring a car, you’ll be able to comfortably visit the several towns and villages that are worth to see, located along the shores of Lake Garda.

From the lake to the seaside: a week for Cinque Terre is enough to enjoy of sights, hiking, walking, and any other activities this land has to offer you.

If I were you I would extend one more day the stay in Florence; in order to do that, you may cut one day from your Cinque Terre stay.

Lake Garda

However your holiday seem to be well planned; no any rush , car hire just when it appear to be necessary – Lake Garda surroundings would be hard to visit by public transp. .
It includes lake, sea, and art cities, such great destinations as Lake Garda, Cinque Terre, Verona, Rome, and Florence. The only downside could be the crowds; by choosing very common travel destinations, in July you could encounter any crowd, especially to the lakes and sea.
