»» Day Trips from Pisa
Vacationers from North Europe or UK who are planning trips to Tuscany, Liguria and surrounding areas are increasingly opting to fly into Pisa. Many of them often seek advice on how to better plan trips when flying into or out of Pisa as well as which places to visit in the surrounding areas.

Here’s a few suggestions for those who stay a couple of days in Pisa. Other than Florence (many tourists flying into Pisa are planning a stay in Florence) you have some day trip options.
- Lucca
Lucca is one of the recommended ones. It is a very nice city and also is an easy trip from Pisa.
- Siena
Siena is not recommended for day trips, because it is not so easy to get to from Pisa; you should hire a car.
- Beaches
In Summer, if you are looking for seaside activities, you have some nice beaches along the Litorale Pisano. They include the resorts of Marina di Vecchiano, Marina di Pisa, Tirrenia e Calambrone. They are not as crowded or as expensive as Viareggio, the most famous in the area, around 25 minutes north of Pisa, heavily crowded especially on weekends.
- The City of Pisa
However, before planning day trips, you may want to visit the city of Pisa. It is not just the Leaning Tower. The Duomo and Piazza del Duomo, Piazza dei Cavalieri, and the churches of San Francesco, Santa Maria della Spina, and San Paolo a Ripa d’Arno are among the suggested sights you could visit in the city.
