»» A 1000-year Old Fair in Valle d’Aosta

The city of Aosta hosts on January 30 and 31, a 1000-year old event which is an attraction also for holidaymakers crowding in this time the major winter holidays’ destinations in Valle d’Aosta (Aosta Valley).
The Fair of Saint Orso attracts thousands of artists and craftsmen exhibiting their work.

All of the traditional craft activities can be seen here: wood sculpture and carving, creation of objects in local ‘ollare’ stone, wrought iron, ‘drap’ cloth, wool weaving on ancient wooden looms, as well as wooden ladders, barrels etc…Not only finest examples of Aosta Valley craft work, also Alpine music, folk dances and tasting sessions of wine and food.

It is a true people’s festival culminating, on the night between January 30th and 31st, in the “VeillĂ “, a night, of musical entertainment in the illuminated streets, which brings crowds of people here until dawn. Find out more details
