Just 50 km north-east of Turin, Piedmont, you have a chance to combine interests as various as skiing, hiking, Roman history, wine, industrial archeology, and shopping all in one 60/70km itinerary.

Starting from Ivrea, driving toward north, you encounter the famed Carema vineyards, then in Pont-St.Martin, you can drive along the ‘Val di Gressoney’ (take the right) or the ‘Val d’Ayas’ (take the left).
Both of these Alpine valleys offer more than a chance for planning excursions to the surrounding mountains.

Ivrea – Pont.St.Martin 20km;
-from Pont St.Martin, Val di Gressoney stretches for approximately 40km;
-from Pont St.Martin, Val d’Ayas stretches for approximately 45km

Pont.St.Martin: Roman bridge;
Gaby: Niel falls;
Gressoney la Trinitè: excursions to Colle Bettaforca and ascension to Mount Rosa;
Bard: Roman road;
Verres: Castels of Verres and of Issogne;
Champoluc: ascension to Mount Rosa.

From Ivrea, driving toward Biella, you encounter:
Biella: primary Italian center for textile manufacturing, with a museum, industrial archeology sites, and many factory outlets to shop fine clothing at discounted prices;
Oropa: (from Biella driving along the 144 road), ‘Sanctuary of Madonna Nera’.
