“Driving from Florence to Venice, any suggestions on interesting places where to stop in between ?”
The shortest way for this drive is by taking A13 motorway Venice-Bologna first and then A1 motorway Bologna-Florence.
-A13 (Venice-Bologna)

Bologna and Padova are must to see cities. Among the art cities on the same route, I would suggest Ferrara, it is a city rich of art and history (renaissance time).
By doing a little diversion from A13, you could go to Vicenza, interesting for its architecture — it is the Andrea Palladio’s city — and continue to Verona, the “Romeo & Juliet” city also well-known for its Arena.
A few km away from Verona, you have Lake Garda.
-A1 (Bologna-Florence)
Before arriving in Florence, with a little diversion from A1, you could head to Lucca — relevant historic center — and Pisa — the city of the “Leaning Tower”.
Bologna-Florence route crosses through the Appenines mountains chain, so that may offer you sceneries you could rate as places are worth to visit. Any stops there, it’s up to you.
