|  | Friuli-Venezia Giulia is one of the five Italian regions with status of Region with a Special Statute that means administrative autonomy. The region is composed in two parts (different for historical, ethnic, and linguistic components): Friuli including the provinces of Pordenone, Udine and part of the province of Gorizia, Venezia Giulia including the territories of Trieste and Gorizia. Diversity in art and culture, in ethnic and linguistic components, but Friuli-Venezia Giulia also contains very diverse environments, landscapes; from the sea to the mountains the distances do not exceed a hundred kilometres. The climate too varies considerably from one area to another: from a humid, temperate climate to the special weather and climate of Carso plateau where the masses of cold air coming from the east bring well-known winds: the "bora", (northeasterly wind) that reaches its maximum intensity in Trieste with gusts that sometimes exceed 150 km per hour | | Cities | Trieste: cross-roads of people and cultures from Italy and the Balkans, central Europe and the Mediterranean regions.
