Friuli-Venezia Giulia is one of the five Italian regions with status of Region with a Special Statute that means administrative autonomy.
The region is composed in two parts (different for historical, ethnic, and linguistic components): Friuli including the provinces of Pordenone, Udine and part of the province of Gorizia, Venezia Giulia including the territories of Trieste and Gorizia.
Diversity in art and culture, in ethnic and linguistic components, but Friuli-Venezia Giulia also contains very diverse environments, landscapes; from the sea to the mountains the distances do not exceed a hundred kilometres.
The climate too varies considerably from one area to another: from a humid, temperate climate to the special weather and climate of Carso plateau where the masses of cold air coming from the east bring well-known winds: the "bora", (northeasterly wind) that reaches its maximum intensity in Trieste with gusts that sometimes exceed 150 km per hour

Places to see: "Piazza Libertà" with its beautiful neoclassical palaces "Palazzo Comunale", "Palazzo della Prefettura" , "Palazzo del Lloyd" ; "Canal Grande" (1756) ; the two castles: "Castello di San Giusto" and "Castello di Miramare"; "Cattedrale di San Giusto", "Chiesa di San Nicolò", "Chiesa di San Spiridione", the Synagogue and the Evangelic Church. -
-Udine: the Castle "Castello di Udine" housing : "Art Gallery", "Museo del Risorgimento", "Armeria" and "Civici Musei";the 16th "Torre dell orologio"; the "Fountain" built in 1542. -
-Gorizia: the castle (11th century) "Castello di Gorizia", symbol of the city, which stores a great collection of Renaissance, Baroque and eighteenth-century furniture, many paintings and sculptures and an important exhibition of pewter, potteries, halberds and armours; the Cathedral "Duomo", recorded for the first time in a document dated 1296

Sea: Grado and Aquileia, Lignano Sabbiadoro and the Marano lagoon, the Triestine coastline
Mountain: (Alps) the Tarvisiano, the Carnia, Piancavallo

Also to see: monumental cemeteries, war graveyards, castles, towers, strongholds, archaeological sites (Aquileia).
