-Reggio Calabria- Founded in the 8th cent. B.C., destroyed several times by violent earthquakes, now it is a modern city, the main center of the region.

-Cosenza- Notable its Cathedral with 13th-c. Gothic facade and the church of San Francesco built in 1217.

-Crotone- Founded by Greek colonists -- Kroton was the name of the ancient Greek city, between the 7th and the 6th century B.C. Here Pythagoras founded his school.
